Cosmetic Breast Surgery

Breast Augmentation (Breast Implants) is one of the most frequently performed procedures. Due to Dr. Chidyllo’s extensive experience and training, approximately half of the new breast patients are revision surgery from other surgeons. Women have many options when it comes to breast augmentation surgery. Saline or Silicone, Smooth or Textured, Round or Anatomical, Moderate or High profile, above or below the muscle. At the time of the consultation, Dr. Chidyllo will review all of the options as they pertain to your case.

Breast Reduction or Breast Lifting (Mastopexy)

The reason that these are grouped together is that when a patient requires a breast lift, the breasts may appear smaller post-surgically. When a patient requests a breast reduction, a lifting of the breast tissue is performed. The two issues which always need to be reviewed prior to making a decision about cosmetic breast surgery are: the size of the breasts, and the nipple position in relations to the chest wall and breast tissue.

If the woman is pleased with the present size of her breasts (cup size) then a breast lift may be the required procedure. If the patient desires larger breasts along with tightening of the skin and/or lifting of the nipple, then a combination of breast lift and augmentation may be required. If the woman is requesting smaller more youthful breasts, then a breast reduction is the treatment of choice.

All cosmetic breast surgery is performed as a same day procedure with anesthesia at a local surgical facility. Dr. Chidyllo utilizes a NJ State Certified Surgical Facility under the direction of Board Certified Anesthesiologists.

Breast Reconstruction

Breast reconstruction is performed after breast cancer surgery (mastectomy or lumpectomy) or for the treatment of a Congenital or Traumatic Breast Deformity. Women have many options when it comes to breast reconstruction, all of which will be reviewed at the time of your consultation. Both saline and silicone implants are now used in breast reconstruction along with a variety of skin and muscle flaps. Each procedure is specific to the patient's overall health and desired results.

Dr. Chidyllo feels that breast reconstruction should always be completed with nipple reconstruction and areolar tattooing. These issues will all be reviewed at the time of your consultation.
